What is the most popular sushi in the UK?

The most popular sushi in the UK is California Roll. This sushi roll consists of avocado, cucumber and cooked crab meat rolled in rice and seaweed wrapper. It has become especially popular in recent years due to its simple ingredients, bold flavours and colourful presentation. The California Roll has become a go-to favourite for sushi lovers across the country. Other popular sushi rolls in the UK include spicy tuna, salmon avocado and eel cucumber.

You also have the dragon roll, rainbow roll and a multitude of maki rolls, topped with avocado or crab, you won’t see any imitation crab in sight! We only use the finest, freshest ingredients for our sushi and Pan-Asian dishes. Quality has no substitute!

What is the traditional method of making sushi?

Sushi dates back to the 8th century in Japan, when it was originally known as nare-zushi (“salt-cured sushi”). This traditional method of preparing sushi involves fermenting fish and rice together with salt for several months. The resulting product is then mixed with vinegar and formed into various shapes, such as balls or rolls. Today, sushi is often prepared using the nigiri-zushi method, which involves forming finger-shaped mounds of vinegared rice with a topping of fresh seafood. This contemporary method has become widely popular around the world and is commonly used in restaurants.

Whether you’re looking to explore traditional or modern sushi making techniques, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! So go ahead and give it a try – your taste buds won’t regret it!

Is sushi actually healthy?

Sushi can be a healthy option as it typically contains low amounts of fat and calories. It is also high in omega-3 fatty acids, protein and fibre. However, the health benefits of sushi depend on the type of fish used, how much wasabi you add, the quantity of rice used and whether tempura batter or other sauces are added. To ensure you’re getting the most out of your sushi, opt for rolls filled with fresh fish, skip the extra mayonnaise and soy sauce, and limit how much wasabi or pickled ginger you use. Eating sushi can be a nutritious and delicious meal when enjoyed in moderation.

About Little Fish

We take our mission to bring you exceptional sushi and pan-Asian cuisine more than a little seriously. We want our food to transport you, without you having to make a long journey.

Our food is freshly prepared each day in our kitchen, for pre-order only, and then distributed through a network of local partners, or at our sushi van collection points, or delivered direct to your door, even from smart new refrigerated lockers.

We’ll keep innovating, partnering and pioneering new ways to connect out-of-town food lovers with out-of-this-world food. Our main aim is to bring the highest quality sushi and Pan-Asian food to rural communities.

Our delicious food is conceived and created by Michelin-trained, multi-award winning chef, Neil Witney, who has launched and run some of the UK’s top pan-Asian restaurants such as E&O and Eight over Eight.

Neil started offering his delicious sushi and pan-Asian food in the local area where he lives, in Farnham, when COVID struck. A chance photo on Instagram of a platter he made for wife Justine on Mother’s Day led to the creation of Bools Farm Food, Little Fish’s predecessor. A lot of hard work from this husband-and-wife duo ensued as word spread of the world-class chef offering great food in the local area. It started as a whisper and the story grew.

So if you are looking for delicious food to impress at a corporate event or something exceptional and unique for a wedding or other key events we would be delighted to hear from you. We are based in Liphook but offer Sushi Haslemere and the surrounding areas. Book in with us fast though as our availability goes very quickly!
